Camp Butternut Springs, a year-round camp in northwestern Indiana, received a brand-new Natare stainless steel pool in 2023 and it is beautiful!
Project Overview
Our team was originally contacted in the summer of 2021 about renovating the existing swimming pool with our Natatec® pool lining system.
After receiving the initial renovation quote, the customer came back a couple of months later inquiring about our stainless steel pool systems and their costs. The customer took some more time so their team could discuss and decide the best course of action. Ultimately, they chose a brand-new pool for the camp.
The original L-shaped pool was demolished to make way for the new 82’x42’ rectangular, All-Welded Pool System (AWS). The stainless steel pool walls and gutter system were pre-engineered and fabricated at our Indianapolis production facility before making the short drive north where they were welded into place on top of a concrete slab.
Installation
Before the walls were welded into place, the pool gutters were installed around the perimeter. Once the walls were set, our liner team came in, prepped the pool, and transformed the gray and steel structure into a gorgeous medium blue oasis. The blue liner was then finished with six black racing lane lines.
With the pool and liner installation taking place during late winter into spring, the weather did not want to cooperate. However, Team Natare did not let Mother Nature stop them from getting the job done. They persevered and were able to finish the project on time for the 2023 summer camp and swim season.
Natare Solutions for Camp Butternut Springs
AWS Pool System: Our all-welded stainless steel pool system was chosen as an alternative method to renovating the existing pool. The old pool was aging and a new stainless steel pool would give the campers a much more durable and watertight pool to enjoy for many more years. It was pre-engineered to the exact requirements of the project for a quick and easy installation.
Natatec® Pool Lining System: The floor of the pool is concrete instead of stainless steel, meaning it was important that it is watertight, just like its stainless steel pool walls. Natatec was chosen to accommodate this requirement. It will keep any leaks at bay that may occur due to the potential cracking of the concrete structure. Our pool lining system is also extremely low maintenance, making any annual resurfacing no longer required.
Stainless Steel Pool Gutters: Natare stainless steel pool gutters were chosen over your traditional gutter system. Just like the pool, the gutters are completely watertight and low maintenance. They combine gutter and plumbing functions into a single profile for a clean and well-circulated pool. Since our gutters have a built-in trough, water return and inlets, the need for additional piping or plumbing is eliminated.
GPM Polymer Grating: GPM polymer grating comes standard with our stainless steel pool gutter systems and is available in a variety of colors, but the client chose our standard white. It is the strongest, most durable grating available on the market that is custom fabricated from a marine-grade polymer. It is permanently slip-resistant, making it safe and comfortable for patrons to walk on.
