MicroFlo®

Pool Filtration Systems

Filtration directly impacts water clarity, operating costs, maintenance time, and long-term facility performance. In commercial aquatic facilities, inefficient filtration leads to excessive backwashing, higher chemical consumption, increased labor, and rising utility costs.

Natare provides MicroFlo® vacuum sand filtration systems, engineered specifically for commercial swimming pools.

These systems are used in competition facilities, community pools, hospitality environments, therapy pools, and specialty aquatic installations.

MicroFlo® systems may be supplied as part of a complete Natare pool system or installed independently in concrete, stainless steel, or existing pool structures. Many facilities select MicroFlo® filtration as a standalone upgrade.

What is
MicroFlo® Vacuum
Sand Filtration

MicroFlo® uses vacuum sand filtration technology, which operates under negative pressure rather than the positive pressure used in traditional high-rate sand filters.

Because water reaches the filter by gravity, the system:

  • Reduces pump strain
  • Lowers electrical consumption
  • Improves filtration efficiency
  • Minimizes backwash frequency

The open-top stainless steel filter tank allows direct visual inspection of the filtration process and easy access for maintenance. MicroFlo® systems are fabricated from low-carbon 316L stainless steel (or carbon steel where appropriate) and feature corrosion-resistant internal assemblies designed for long-term durability.

How MicroFlo® Saves Time,
Water, and Money

MicroFlo® filtration systems are engineered to reduce daily operational burdens.

Save Water

MicroFlo® systems can reduce backwash water consumption by up to 80 percent.
Through optimized hydraulics and air-boost backwash technology, significantly less water is lost during cleaning cycles.

Save Money

Longer filter cycles — typically 30 days or more — reduce maintenance labor and water replacement costs compared to conventional pressure sand filters that may require backwashing every 3 to 5 days.

Reduced water waste also lowers chemical demand, heating costs, and refill expenses.

Save Time

MicroFlo® systems eliminate the need for separate hair and lint strainers, saving staff time daily.

Systems are delivered to the project site complete with:

  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Controls
  • Filter media
  • Pre-engineered piping assemblies

This prefabricated filter plant design can reduce installation and construction time by more than 80 percent compared to traditional field-built systems.

Designed for Efficiency and Operational Control

MicroFlo® systems are engineered to maintain consistent water quality under varying bather loads.

Key features include:

  • Open-top filter tank for easy inspection and access
  • Precise control of filter flow rates
  • Flow rates up to 20 gpm per square foot
  • Chemically inert interior surfaces
  • Corrosion-resistant internal components
  • Available compact and wet-well configurations
  • Multiple tank arrangements to suit facility size
  • Modular Hi-Rate horizontal sand filter configurations

The open tank configuration allows visual monitoring of filtration performance without shutting down the system.

In many installations, MicroFlo® vacuum sand filters function as both filtration system and balance tank.

This dual functionality:

  • Reduces mechanical room space requirements
  • Simplifies hydraulic design
  • Improves system efficiency
  • Reduces additional construction costs

This integration makes MicroFlo® particularly effective for renovation and retrofit projects.
