Natare designs and fabricates pool grating systems for commercial, institutional, and specialty aquatic facilities.
Grating may be included as part of a complete pool project or specified independently for renovation and grating-only upgrades. Many facilities replace or upgrade their grating systems without replacing the pool structure itself.
Natare GPM™ polymer grating
Natare GPM™ polymer grating is fabricated from a marine-grade polymer specifically developed for harsh aquatic environments. Natare is one of the very few companies that use this type of material for pool grating, and all GPM™ grating is fabricated in-house.
Built to Last
GPM™ grating is:
- Impact reinforced and “hammer-tough”
- Resistant to UV radiation and fading
- Resistant to pool chemicals
- Frost-resistant in freeze/thaw climates
- Slip-resistant with a permanent matte finish on both sides
It will not rot, discolor, delaminate, chip, or crack under normal commercial use. The flow-control slots are permanently machined into the material, not coated or added later, ensuring consistent hydraulic performance.
Types of GPM™ Grating Available
Available in both configurations:
- Comfort Flow – designed for general aquatic applications
- Competition Flow – optimized for competitive swimming environments
Slots can be oriented parallel or perpendicular to the pool edge, depending on hydraulic and performance requirements.
Standard sections are white, with additional color options available.
GPM™ corner grating is manufactured as a solid one-piece component.
- Standard 90° corners available
- Custom angles and shapes fabricated as required
- Designed to match the attached grating style
Each piece is individually fabricated for precise fit and alignment.
GPM™ gutter and trench grating is available in two standard patterns optimized for water flow.
Standard nominal widths range from:
- 4″ (101 mm) to 18″ (457 mm)
- 2″ (50.8 mm) increments
Custom widths, shapes, and configurations are available.
GPM™ radius grating is custom-fabricated as a solid one-piece system to match curved pool designs.
Unlike segmented systems, this configuration:
- Maintains consistent slot openings
- Eliminates wedge-shaped gaps
- Reduces the risk of toe or finger entrapment
- Provides clean visual integration on curved walls
Open areas can be oriented parallel or perpendicular to the pool wall.
Stainless Steel Grating
For select architectural or specialty projects, Natare offers stainless steel pool grating.
Stainless steel grating is typically used for:
- Projects requiring all-metal finishes
- Specialty aesthetic applications
- Unique material specifications
While less common than GPM™, stainless steel grating is available when project conditions require it.
Customization Options
All GPM™ polymer grating systems can be customized.
Standard colors include:
- White
- Medium Grey
- Black
Custom colors are available. Color is permanent and integral to the material — not painted or coated.
Custom Engraving
Text, logos, and messaging can be engraved in one or two colors directly into the grating surface.
Embedded Inlays
Depth markers, icons, signage, and other visual indicators can be embedded directly into the grating.
Common inlays include:
- Depth markings
- Lane targets
- Wayfinding graphics
- Facility branding
NataTread™ SafeStep™ Polymer Decking
NataTread™ SafeStep™ is a semi-rigid polymer overlay designed for horizontal surfaces requiring slip resistance.
It may be used on:
- Ramps
- Sloped entries
- Stair treads
- Benches
- Horizontal access surfaces
- Pool decks
SafeStep™ is available in:
- 1/4-inch thickness
- 1/2-inch thickness
It is comfortable for bare feet, highly durable, and available in standard and custom colors. SafeStep™ is often specified alongside GPM™ grating to create a consistent, slip-resistant deck environment.
