Project Overview
Located in Seattle’s vibrant University District, ōLiv Seattle is a 25-story mixed-use high-rise that blends modern living with sustainability. Located within steps of the University of Washington and the downtown area, the building offers residents premium amenities designed to elevate the urban living experience.
As a LEED Gold-certified building, ōLiv Seattle showcases its commitment to sustainability through features like EnergyStar appliances and energy-efficient windows. It is also equipped with EV chargers and native landscaping to enhance environmental responsibility.
To complete its green initiative, Natare Pools collaborated with Orca Pacific Inc. to provide a custom stainless steel spa for the rooftop deck.
Designed for Performance above It All
Rooftop aquatic installations introduce a unique set of challenges that demand thoughtful engineering and careful execution. At ōLiv Seattle, the spa needed to be installed in a confined environment with limited access while also meeting strict performance expectations for a structure located above occupied spaces.
To overcome these challenges, the spa was delivered in smaller, manageable sections and assembled on-site. This approach allowed the installation to proceed despite tight access conditions and maintaining the integrity of the overall system.
Because of its rooftop location, watertight performance was essential. The system was designed and constructed to ensure a full sealed, leak-free installation, protecting everything below while delivering a high-end amenity for residents.
A Custom Stainless Steel Solution
The spa features a 24’x12’ footprint with a distinctive rectangular shape and a half-circle end, creating a clean and modern aesthetic that complements the rooftop environment.
Constructed using a 316L stainless steel shell and a 304L stainless steel structural system, the spa ensures longevity and a sleek aesthetic. Interior finishes include tile on vertical surfaces and polymer on horizontal areas.
With a water depth of three feet, it provides the residents with a comfortable and inviting experience where they can relax, take in the city skyline views, or catch up with friends.
